The Resort
We would like to thank all our customers for your support over the last 6 months and would very much like you all to visit on your next trip to Thailand.

We have been hard at work all around the resort which is taking shape now from a picture in my mind to reality and standing. The lakeside bungalows are now ready and booking for these has taken off, the first 4 are ready and the updated web site shows these in pictures outside and in. These have been fitted out with quality fixtures and fittings with hand made solid wood beds Queen Size and Slumberland posture springing Mattress with high quality bedding. The bungalows have been built with energy saving blocks and roofing to keep them cool in hot climate temperatures with double glazed windows and ceramic floor tiles also fitted with Mitsubishi Air conditioning units. Each Bungalow has own on suite bathroom with toilet , hot/cold Shower , Hand Basin and extraction fans and full wet room facilities. Every bungalow has safe for customer use and 32 inch flat screen TV/DVD with Fridge and Kettle and Tea/coffee making facilities, also spare power points to charge camera and phone batteries. These are all 2 meters above ground/lake level so you have a great view around the resort and can watch the fish jumping in the morning and evening time.

Building at present two more lakeside suite bungalows which will have all the above also two seater sofa and coffee table and King Size bed with larger bathroom and private fishing swim area just outside your front door!! These will be ready for Sep/Oct 2013.

Fishing sala and walkways around the resort:
We have now put concrete walkways around all areas and made the fishing platforms much larger and comfortable for you stay. We have made these sala from hard wood and concrete wood panels for the roof which look good and keep the sun/rain off you whilst fishing. Also all have power points and Wi-Fi will reach most of these and is Free for you to use at TopCats. Now also concrete steps from the restaurant down to the lake for your safety. Please remember that when fishing we ask you to enter the water for a picture with your catch so please bring a change of shorts for your journey home if you are only visiting on a day ticket. We supply towels for all fishing customers and you can always cool of in the swimming pool if you get too hot fighting that fish.

We allow one guest per person fishing at TopCats and they can sit with you whilst fishing or use the swimming pool and bar restaurant. They can also take your pictures but they cannot fish or share rods.

We have been very busy at times and advise booking ASAP for staying at the resort and if you would like to visit on a day ticket. We have max no 12 people on the lake and start fishing from 8.00am – 8.00pm. The day ticket price includes all tackle hire and help from a fishing guide but if you feel they have done a good job please give them a tip as makes them happy!!
The Fishing
Fishing tackle:
What kind of tackle do you need at TopCats ? You don’t have to bring any as we provide all and now sponsored by: Century Rods with the Excalibur Catfish Rods which have been developed for us after months of testing on these monster fish. These Rods are very strong but have a great playing action when under the tip also have pined reel seats stopping twisting and seat movement. (New for 2013) Big thank you to the Century Team. Reels we use Baitrunners Shimano 1200 D or Longcast or Diawa Infinity X Bait N Run as these are the only ones found up to the job. Line we use Gold Label Tackle Pro Tough 36 LBS Mono thanks to Mr Terry Eustace for a great product. Braid for our Rigs from Kryston and Nash which have been found to stay the distance but Alligator Gar/Pachu still bite through some times. Alarms DelKim are our choice these have been reliable over the years and provide sensitivity/volume/tone adjustment and great bobbing options. Hooks are GLC size 2/0 for the predators and Gamakatsu 13/14 or Nash 4/5 Fang X or Uni for the carp.

Bringing your own:
Should you wish to bring your own reels you can just load up with 30 LBS ++ Mono and rods and end tackle. Remember barbless Braid 40 Lbs and up for hook links/hair rigs and tubing or Korda leader are required. Inline leads are best or method feeders if you use a lead clip you will lose the lead every time as the takes can be savage. PVA bags work out here with chopped Boilies/corn but you will have to bring these out with you as we don’t have a stockist yet!! I know some of the Carp boy’s love their own gear and it makes you feel that little bit more confident and happy so please feel free to do so and catch a Giant Siamese Carp to 150 LBS at TopCats on your own gear !! Those expats living out here who would like to purchase Rods/Reels as we use can from our Tackle Shop on site but need to order.

Fishing guides:
We have fishing guides on hand at all times out here to check rigs equipment, land fish & unhook and general welfare or well care of the fish and customer. These fish are big and some take 3/5 people to handle and hold for a trophy photo. Also some have some big teeth and will have a go at you if don’t know how to handle them. We cater for novice anglers and young anglers to experts just let us know how much help you would like. If you have a good day or holiday please feel free to write a review on our Trip Advisor page or our Facebook page.

Bait & cost:
The Bait we use at TopCats is all manufactured on site. We only sell quality food for our fish as their well being is no one priority. Boilies are made weekly we have invested in machines with automated manufacture as rolling tables could not keep up with demand. These fish are getting quite big now and a 100 LBS carp can polish off quite a few kilo boilies so don’t just feed a little give them a large portion and you might be lucky. We sell Maize Sweet corn and ground bait also dead fish bait for the predators.

Outside bait we are now not allowing in any form as people have tried 10/20 KG Boilies from such and such saying it will clean up catch everything that swims!! It won’t people have tried and caught nothing and say you have no fish in the lake rather we have no fish that like your bait!! Remember local knowledge is king and stick to what has been working and you might catch your dream fish.

New fish stocking TopCats 2013:
Over the last few months we have stocked some new species as follows:
Wallago Leeri (30 x 5-8KG)
Giant Siamese Carp (50 x 15-22KG)
Arapaima Giga (30 x 75-100KG)
Arowana Silver (50 x 5-7KG)

Fishing shows in UK & Holland
This year was our first year at the trade shows and we gave out over 6000 information packs and found people very interested. These shows give people the chance to come and have a chat about things and ask any burning questions about TopCats or Thailand. We found that some people thought it was far more expensive than our price and were very happy once we told them the cost. We do a week out here from £595.00 including all Tackle hire and accommodation and Free Airport pick up service you can’t beat that. Also you can pay in UK Pounds to a UK Bank and save on exchange rate fluctuations, get in contact with us direct and book your trip and we offer a Guaranteed Catch Policy. That is not only for a week but day tickets!! Fish a full day 12 hours and should you not catch a fish full refund no questions. Not many places will offer you that deal. Next year we will be at the shows in UK Farnborough THE BIG ONE, Five Lakes CARPIN-ON Essex, Zwolle Holland and possibly one more which once confirmed will let you all know. Please come by say hello you are not under any pressure to buy right then as we understand booking holidays take a little more organization than buying a reel or rod etc.
Thanks for reading this Newsletter and hope to see you all at some point in the coming months. We update our Facebook page on a weekly basis with the latest catch reports and any other news from Topcats. You can post your pictures from your trip out here also with comments.
